The Thirty-seventh Session of the Advisory Committee on Post Adjustment Questions

At this session, which was attended by representatives of many organizations and staff federations, the Committee reviewed methodological issues pertaining to the next round of surveys, including the list of items and their specifications in the market basket to be used for the Commission’s price surveys; the modus operandi for the use of data collected under the European Comparisons programme, for post adjustment index calculations for covered group I duty stations, and the re-design of the expenditure survey questionnaires and other data collection forms. The Committee also reviewed the operation of the rental subsidy scheme focusing on the issue of the restoration of the trade-off between rental subsidy and post adjustment; and proposals for modifications of the operational rules governing the post adjustment system, including one regarding the continued use of the five per cent rule in the context of synchronization of the post adjustment classification review cycles of headquarters and other group I duty stations. Finally, the Committee reviewed the operation of the post adjustment system for New York, and made initial proposals for the agenda of its thirty-eighth session, for the Commission’s consideration.
